I'll overwhelm 'serious combatant' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight round match which will be shown live on Netflix.

British boxer Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the pair confronted each other to build hype for next month's boxing match.

Former twice unified boxing king Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth mismatch - at Miami's arena on 19 December.

Fighter's Mentality

"I plan to break his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I'm going to really want to cause him pain. That's my goal."

Civil Interaction

Despite such comments, a calm Joshua and internet personality Paul - normally known for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead criticized ex Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian turned down a bout proposal.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK opponent Fury - and declined a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' states he will put on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul outshines Fury - he showed up," the boxer said.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Fighter

Despite saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua refused to comment unfavorably about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he said.

Jake Paul's History

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.

He lost to British fighter Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

However, the inexperienced fighter is still one of boxing's greatest commercial attractions, frequently receiving massive earnings.

Prediction and Belief

The 28 year old forecast a KO victory in rounds four or five and claimed he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for 2026.

"It will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul said.

Size Difference

As Joshua and Paul participated in the customary face-off, with their size difference on show, it drove home just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is actually happening.
