Helicopter Spins Out of Control into Palm Fronds at Well-Known Southern California Beach
An aircraft soaring above a crowded coastal shoreline unexpectedly began spiraling wildly, ultimately losing altitude and crashing into a cluster of palm trees as beachgoers watched.
Recordings posted on social media show the aircraft beginning to twirl over Huntington Beach then descending near the border of the coast, where it becomes wedged between palm trees and a set of stairs adjacent to the coastal road.
Emergency Response Details
Local firefighters said five individuals were transported to a medical facility comprising two who were in the aircraft and were “rescued from the debris” following the accident on the weekend.
Three individuals on the road were hurt. Details on their condition were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was still under investigation.
